Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
