Trump Business Attempted to Hire Nearly 200 Employees on Visas in 2025
Donald Trump’s corporate entity accelerated its hiring of foreign workers on short-term work permits this year, while his government was placing obstacles for other businesses attempting to do the same, a report published recently stated.
Based on information from the US Department of Labor, the Trump Organization sought to hire at least 184 overseas employees in the coming year for short-term roles at the US president’s Florida property, golf facilities and his Virginia winery.
The quantity of requests for H-2A and H-2B visas covering staff including servers, clerks, housekeepers, kitchen staff and farm workers was the highest ever filed by the company, and up from 121 in 2021, when his presidency concluded.
It was also the fifth instance in a decade that Trump had attempted to hire more than 100 foreign employees for seasonal jobs at Mar-a-Lago, based on available data.
The disclosure comes amid a tightening on legal immigration by his government that has included the introduction of a substantial charge on skilled worker visas; increased review of the actions of the millions of people who possess American work permits; and restrictive new rules for international scholars and reporters.
Overall, the business sought to hire 566 foreign laborers over the five years Trump has been in the presidency, from his first term and during the upcoming year.
Notably, Trump was questioned by some in the Republican party this period for comments justifying the necessity for foreign workers when a business was unable to find people with “specific talents” to occupy certain positions.
“You can’t just say a country is entering, going to invest $10bn to construct a plant, and going to take people off an jobless roster who have been unemployed in years, and they’re going to start making their missiles. It isn’t feasible that effectively,” he stated to a interviewer after she suggested that foreign workers lower the pay of American employees.
The administration refused a inquiry for comment, and the Trump Organization did not provide an answer to an request for information.
